Louis van der Kruyk

Louis Van Der Kruyk is a romantic painter, clearly visible in the choice
of his motives and in the warm, sweet and sensitive colors.
Special his recent work gives expression to joy, hope and happiness
with fantasy elements like butterflies, flowers and undefined fragments of colors.

Sometimes, particularly in his earliest work, his paintings where characterized
by a touch of melancholy like twilight landscapes and passed worlds that just remains
in our fantasies and dreams. Melancholy and loneliness is a strong
returning feeling in his paintings, not just alone by his motives but also in his colors.
'I just want to make beautiful things in a world that goes down around us',
is Louis Van Der Kruyk's philosophy of painting.

Sphere, feelings, color and special children and women plays an important role in his paintings.
The women in Van Der Kruyk's paintings are often fine and attractive,
with suggestive shapes, remaining youthfulness and expressing charm and optimism.
His work is often mystical and with an undertone of religion like muses,
angels and mothers carrying babies in their arms who remind us
on the Madonna's in the Italian Renaissance.

Louis van der Kruyk's paintings are not more realized by
reality but more based on his innermost being and his feelings.
It is his vision of the world, the indestructible purity of light
and darkness and the interpretation he gave it to it and
wherein imagination and fantasy becomes still more and more important than the reason.

A still returning motive is the poetical butterflies in his work,
who represents the immortal soul and the shortness of life.
The butterfly could be angels and represents also in his
work the three phases of the human soul, life, dead and resurrection.
